Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) is a provincial agency that serves as a leading resource for intellectual property (IP) expertise. IPON provides IP education, funding and services to help innovative researchers and companies maximize the value of their IP, strengthen their capacity to grow, and compete in the global market.
Location: We have offices in both Kitchener and Toronto.
Employment type: This is a 15-month fixed-term contract role.
The Brand Marketing Advisor executes on IPON's brand strategy by delivering clear, consistent and accessible experiences across all touchpoints. The Brand Marketing Advisor is responsible for IPON’s brand standards; graphic design; website; social media; community engagement; agency templates and presentations; and supporting digital and traditional advertising initiatives. Using audience insights and analytics, the role drives awareness, engagement and measurable outcomes while providing strategic counsel to internal partners to ensure every initiative aligns with IPON’s brand guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure branding is consistent across all channels (social media, website, emails, presentations, events, etc.)
- Manage ip-ontario.ca
- Build, test and deploy email campaigns on behalf of IPON
- Manage all aspects of social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube)
- Proactively create digital content for social media channels using a variety of digital formats (video, sound bites, photography)
- Manage or support traditional and digital ads
- Regularly report on digital metrics
- Ensure IPON meets its French requirements / coordinate with external translator as required
- Support IPON event participation, such as speaking engagements (deck creation)
- Support the planning and execution of all IPON hosted and co-hosted events
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design or a combination of relevant experience and education
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications, digital marketing, social media management, or event management
- Previous experience working with various levels of governments and public institutions and/or as part of Ontario’s innovation ecosystem is an asset
- Experience working with CMS such as Mailchimp
- Experience creating and sourcing digital content
- Understanding of CASL, AODA and data governance compliance
- Experience using Google Analytics and competency to provide recommendations based on metrics
- Experience with Canva, Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Thorough understanding of digital and design best practices
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and re-prioritize work, and skilled at simultaneously working on multiple tasks with various deadlines
- Comfortable working with French assets (bilingualism not required)
The annual salary range for this role is $80,000 - $105,000, plus benefits and pension.
